SEX TRAFFICKING IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM

Every day, children across our country are being manipulated and sold for sex by sophisticated criminals:

  • According to the Polaris Project, Texas has the country’s second highest level of reported domestic minor sex trafficking in the country.
  • The Polaris Project and The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) have data that indicate this crime is on the rise.
  • Research shows that youth trafficked for sex typically survive an average of only 7 years due to the high level of trauma they experience.
  • The average age of a person trafficked for sex is only 15 years.
